Updated Appointment Name: Support Team Appointments

You may notice a new name when scheduling certain visits with us. What were previously called “Technician Appointments” are now Support Team Appointments.

This update is part of an upcoming change in Minnesota, where Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) will transition to the title Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs), with the title becoming more clearly defined and protected starting July 1, 2026.

As this transition takes place, we’re updating our terminology to better reflect the full team involved in your pet’s care. During these visits, your pet may be cared for by a licensed technician or a highly trained veterinary assistant, all working under the direction of our veterinarians. The new name helps more accurately represent that team-based approach and clearly distinguishes these visits from doctor (veterinarian) appointments.

What is a Support Team Appointment?

Support Team Appointments are designed for patients who:

  • Are up to date on their annual wellness exam
  • Do not have new or ongoing medical concerns that require a veterinarian’s evaluation

These visits are for brief, scheduled services and do not include a doctor exam.

Types of Support Team Appointments

Medical Services

  • Lab sample collection (blood, urine)
  • Vaccine boosters
  • Medication administration (injection, oral)
  • Subcutaneous (SQ) fluid therapy
  • Therapy Laser Sessions

Clinical Grooming

  • Nail trims
  • Anal gland expression (internal)
  • Ear cleaning
  • Tick removal
  • Brief sanitary trims

Client Education Sessions

  • Medication administration training
  • Ongoing care guidance and support
  • Additional education as recommended by your veterinarian

When is a doctor visit needed?

If your pet has new concerns or is overdue for an annual wellness exam, we’ll schedule an appointment with one of our veterinarians to ensure they receive a full evaluation.
