Please allow us to provide an update on South Hyland Pet Hospital’s COVID-19 clinic policies.
We know that with the progression of COVID-19 vaccinations in our state and community, more opportunities for in-person events and gatherings are becoming a reality. We at South Hyland Pet Hospital are looking forward to the time when we can have our clients inside the building for their pets’ appointments again. We miss you all!
Our team members are currently in the process of being vaccinated. Veterinary professionals became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in mid-March. We feel this is an important safety step for both us and our clients. Until the time at which our vaccinations are completed, we will remain fully curbside with the exception of euthanasia appointments. This is a process that will likely take a few months to complete.
We have been continuing to grow at South Hyland Pet Hospital and have added a number of additional staff, as well as new leadership roles, to our team.
Because client communication and top notch veterinary care are our number one priority, we will be implementing daily morning staff rounds (meetings) as of Monday May 17th.
Impactful rounds improve and maintain communication, efficiency, and staff culture. They properly prepare everyone for the day, help identify potential issues, and allow the team to adequately prepare for non-routine events.
We have partnered with a reputable LOCAL pharmacy to be able to offer our clients a variety of medications and products at very competitive prices. We are proud to showcase a large variety of products that we trust, recommend, and use on our own pets. In addition, all of the products offered at our online store are backed by a manufacturer guarantee.
We understand that cost is a big reason that our clients purchase from non-accredited suppliers. We do our very best to make our medications and preventatives affordable and we do routinely compare prices with online providers to make sure that our prices stay competitive.
As we continue to adjust to new ways of working during the pandemic, continuity of care for you and your pet remains to be of the utmost importance for our staff.
South Hyland Pet Hospital would like to announce “Video Chat” via Zoom, so you can see and communicate with the Veterinarian while your pet is in the building for their appointment. This allows us to provide a more personal curbside visit as well as give us the ability to stay better connected with you during these challenging times of social distancing.
We can’t believe it has been almost a year since we have been curbside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There have been many challenges as we have had to adjust to changing protocols and procedures to help keep everyone safe and healthy. We understand how stressful it can be to watch someone take your pet inside and not be able to be present for their appointment, especially if they’re not feeling well. We want you to know that we appreciate all of your patience and trust as we continue to adjust, to help provide the best care possible during this time. As always, you and your pet’s health and happiness continue to be our number one priority.
The Wellness Plans at South Hyland are designed to fill that gap by providing those routine services not covered by insurance. Our wellness plans include comprehensive health maintenance exams, all necessary vaccinations, intestinal fecal parasite tests, heartworm and tick-borne disease tests.

What Are Wellness Plans?
In human medicine, Medical Insurance provides all-around coverage. It can help to pay for emergency surgery, annual physicals and everything in between. In Veterinary medicine, Pet Insurance is used for catastrophic or traumatic injuries like emergency surgery, but does not provide coverage for wellness check-ups, vaccinations, routine laboratory testing and so forth. The Wellness Plans at South Hyland are designed to fill that gap by providing those routine services not covered by insurance.
Our wellness plans include comprehensive health maintenance exams, all necessary vaccinations, intestinal fecal parasite tests, heartworm and tick-borne disease tests. Additional medical exams, nail trims, anal gland expressions, complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, thyroid tests, urine analysis, blood pressure measurement and cytology evaluations are part of some plans. Member discounts on preventatives like Heartgard, Frontline, Revolution, Nexgard and Certifect are offered with some plans as well.
Upon enrollment, all of the services included in your pet’s Wellness Plan will be provided at your discretion for 12 months. Depending on the plan you choose, this may include examinations, vaccinations, lab testing, nail trims and more. A portion of the total is charged every month.
What Does AAHA Mean For Me and My Pet?
The AAHA designation exemplifies the “gold standard” of care for companion animals. It may surprise you to learn that only 12-15% of veterinary practices across the United States and Canada are accredited by AAHA, making this designation one to be proud of – and one to look for when selecting a veterinarian for your pet. South Hyland Pet Hospital is proud to be AAHA Accredited!
How Can a Fear Free Certified Hospital Benefit Me and My Pet?
