To All of Our Clients at South Hyland Pet Hospital,
After almost 30 years of dedication to serving you and your pets, South Hyland Pet Hospital would like to formally announce Dr. Vicki Schulz’s retirement as of May 1st 2022.
Before Dr. Schulz became a veterinarian, she was employed as a veterinary technician working mostly with horses. Discovering she had a passion and talent for veterinary medicine, she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 1984 from the University of Minnesota and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.
Post-graduation, Dr. Schulz began her journey as a veterinarian with Elm Creek Animal Hospital followed by South Hyland Pet Hospital in 1995 under Dr. Jim Libby, our Founder. Since then she has obtained memberships with the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association and the Association of Avian Veterinarians. She also co-founded ACTV Rescue and Rehabilitation in 2008 and is currently the acting Medical Director. With her profound knowledge in shelter and rescue medicine, Dr. Schulz has volunteered her time working with non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities, northern Minnesota and even as far south as Puerto Rico!
Vicki has always enjoyed medicine and being able to provide the best quality of life she can to all of her patients while valuing all of the incredible relationships she has made along the way. She has brought so much to all of us at South Hyland Pet Hospital and we are incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of working with her during her tenure.
During her retirement, Vicki plans on spending more time visiting her sons, traveling with her husband and relaxing in her garden while offering veterinary relief services to South Hyland Pet Hospital.
As always, our veterinarians have functioned as a team. Over the next several months, Dr. Schulz will be working on transferring her patients to our other doctors for continuity of care.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Schulz on this amazing accomplishment and wishing her the best as she enjoys her well-deserved and much earned retirement!
Sincerely,
Dr. Nikki Burk & Dr. Mark Lehnert
